We are seeking an DevOps DBA Individual responsible for maintaining the integrity of site database infrastructure and processes within the organization. This individual will operate as a point of contact for database infrastructure and schema design in addition to providing tier 2 database support to the customer support team. You will be working with a team of strong DevOps engineers and the most modern technologies.

 

The ideal individual has 3+ years of experience using relational database administration.  The candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills, as well as the ability to interact with leadership and thrive in a fast-paced startup. You will be a valued member of  the team, responsible for operations of our production infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Services:
    • Using DBA expertise and best practices to scale and optimize database services.
    • Manage MySQL in production/QA/dev environments including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc
    • Maintain multi-site operations, including clustering and replication as needed.
    • Work with various teams for performance tuning and optimization, query optimization, index tuning, caching, buffer tuning, etc.
    • Generate reports for business analysis using complex SQL.
  • Operational Performance
    • Proactively monitor system performance, health and capacity.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve Database and application problems.
    • Work with various teams for performance tuning and query optimization.
    • Participate in a 24×7 on call rotation
  • Partnership:
    • Collaborate with Information Security on cloud and customer data security.
    • Collaborate with Customer Support on operational issues and provide solutions.
    • Collaborate with Software Engineering on database best practices and solutions.
  • Security:
    • Adhere to and improve corporate standards for information security & compliance
    • Document and update procedures and processes.

Required Skills

  • 3 year Operational experience with Relational Database Management Systems preferably with High availability environments.
  • Strong SQL knowledge with the ability to read dynamic and write complex queries.
  • Exceptional problem-solving expertise and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of Linux operating system, storage solutions, networking, security, and web applications.
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS.
  • Ability to follow procedures, processes and conventions.
  • Programming and scripting skills like python and BASH
  • Excellent verbal communications: articulateness, patience, listening skills
  • Professionalism: promptness, attention to detail, organization, initiative

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Amazon MYSQL Aurora.
  • An understanding of kubernetes
  • Knowledge of AWS lambda
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as DataDog
  • Experience with log aggregation tools such as SumoLogic
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible
  • Experience with code repositories like gitlab
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
