  • Junior Splunk Administrator
  • You must also be able to manage several task deliverables at once and quickly shift priorities as needed.

The work:

  • The duties for this role include activities to maintain and monitor the Splunk Enterprise production and development environment.
  • A junior member's core responsibilities lie in supporting Senior Administrators by executing delegated tasks and completing many of the lower complexity functions for the team.
  • This include making basic configurations changes, on boarding new log sources; including field extraction and normalization, maintaining team documentation, responding to customer tickets, submitting services requests and change requests for the team. Junior administrators will also heavily be involved in collaborative working session doing hands on keyboard for screen shares, guided by senior team members.
  • These collaboration sessions generally focus on making configuration changes, running Splunk searches and creating searches to monitor and report on the health of the Splunk environments. Junior administrators will also act as team project contributors by executing project tasks delegated by project delivery owners.
  • There will be a high focus on quick learning and accelerated skill development via mentor/mentee relationships within the team.
  • The team is highly collaborative, we leverage many of the available collaborative working platforms and rarely work alone on tasks.


  • Bachelor's degree or 5-10 years general IT support experience
  • 0-2 years Splunk Administrator experience for a distributed Splunk environment
  • 1-2 years Splunk users experience
  • Working knowledge of regex and writing regex expressions
  • Experience with a ticketing management system and wiki-based documentation
  • Competent working knowledge of regular Linux CLI commands

Bonus points if:

  • Splunk Administrator Certification o CompTIA cert (A+, Security+, or Network+ or equivalent)
  • Splunk user/Splunk power user cert
