  • Functions may include
    • database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles.
  • Responsibilities may include
    • Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems.
  • Duties may include
    • management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments.
    • Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities.
    • Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition.
    • Data engineer may design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting, and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data.
    • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Team and Team size:

  • Scrum team is comprised of 2 Senior Data Engineers, Tech lead, 2 TDP Data Engineers (along with a product owner from the business & scrum master).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Large complex components; influencing overall product architecture and patterns
  • Autonomously Implementing component design in line with pre-defined modern team architectural patterns
  • Partner with Business, Technical and Strategic Product to manage project commitments in an agile framework; rapidly delivering value to our customers via technology solutions
  • Design and develop resilient, reliable, scalable and self-healing solutions to meet and exceed customer requirements
  • Ensure that all parts of the application eco-system are thoroughly and effectively covered with telemetry
  • Relieve the team of “churn” and “waste” by introducing automation of menial tasks
  • Collaborate with engineers on partner-teams to build cohesive and optimal solutions
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms, and be able to present and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor more junior members of the engineering team to develop and perform as highly as possible

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of IT experience in Software Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience working on large scale, multiple team projects
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development
  • 2+ years of experience with at least 1 scripting language such as Perl, Python or PowerShell, JavaScript
  • 1+ years of experience with programmatic interaction with DBMA and NoSQL database like MongoDB
  • 1+ years of cloud experience, preferably Azure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud development and computing
  • Cutting edge technology (AI, ML, Blockchain, Wearables, IOT)
  • Continuous integration experience/DevOps skills, (Typescript, Jenkins, Git, NodeJS)
  • Microservice design, Java Spring, Kafka, RabbitMQ
