Leadership

  • Lead team of 4-6 IT Infrastructure, cloud engineers supporting a 24x7 global environment.
  • Install and maintain motivation within the Infrastructure team through healthy leadership practices, keeping regular 1:1 and goal setting
  • Propose and manage team objectives and projects, driving improvement supporting new business.
  • Partner with division and corporate teams to enact tangible change and improvement to the IT org.
  • Assist in negotiating and administering vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Manage staffing, including recruitment, coaching, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
  • Assisting with developing department budget, tracking/forecasting and project management (Agile/Kanban experience preferred)

 

Infrastructure Management

  • Responsible for the overall health and stability of our cloud and on-premise infrastructure and the necessary business continuity it provides.
  • Performs various IT Engineering coordination and execution of duties, including managing server hardware lifecycles, virtualization and OS health, and MS server software licensing needs
  • Design, implement, and support architecture improvements for our on-premise, cloud and SaaS initiatives
  • Update IT department leadership on key system events, and communicate effectively with other leads regarding change management items or components introducing unwieldy technical debt to the IT Infrastructure team.
  • Champion the creation, management, maturation, and utilization of SOPs pertaining to IT Infrastructure systems and processes.
  • Manage project and emergency workload across available resources.

Innovation

  • Conduct POCs as needed to evaluate improvements our core infrastructure, processes and supporting technologies.
  • Create architecture patterns supporting product team application designs, scalability, monitoring, security goals partnering with other engineering leads.
  • Advocate for and continue to improve the culture and technology adoption of DevOps and automation practices
  • Work with the Director of Platform Architecture to finalize the tech stack and architectural changes post POCs

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 8 years of experience in a IT server engineering role supporting a physical data center, with 3 years of experience managing engineering teams, organizational budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Strong background in server or network engineering roles supporting data center operations and support, primarily a Microsoft Server environment.
  • Manage the compute and storage ecosystem (Cisco UCS, Dell/EMC, VMware HCI, Nimble, etc.)
    • vCenter experience is a must.
  • Must hold relevant professional certifications (Virtualization, Network, Storage, Management, etc.)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, network routing protocols, and physical infrastructure.
  • Ability to employ good troubleshooting skills, and creative problem solving abilities under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.


Preferred:

  • Prior experience leading an organization through technology transformation, leveraging cloud and understand the complexity created by legacy systems and have been able to move to a new cutting edge technology stack.
  • Experience with leading cloud initiatives in Azure, AWS or GCP initiatives. Certifications preferred
  • Proven experience in implementing, maintaining, and testing disaster recovery strategies
  • Traditional networking experience - configuring and securing Juniper switches & routers, Aruba access points, and Palo Alto Firewalls. WAN/ISP management experience
  • Experience with implementing DevOps/Platform practices and supporting technologies such as Gitlab/GitHub, TeamCity, Terraform, Ansible
  • Experience with programing, scripting languages
  • Qualifications in any areas of: agile/lean frameworks, project management, or ITIL
