Job Description:

  • Company is in the middle of a multi-year project to update the rates on an existing block of long term care (LTC) policies.
  • The main objection of this project is to implement approved LTC rate changes into our internal administration system and execute the rate changes by notifying policyholders.
  • The project also focuses on updating our internal administration system to correct and remove system roadblocks that would prevent us from implementing and executing the rate changes.
  • This is a high-profile initiative to improve the financial stability of the LTC block of business and has strong leadership support.

Team:

  • The Technical Analyst (TA) will be working with a team of experienced IT technical and LTC business professionals.
  • The team is well established and high functioning, consistently exceeding goals.
  • The team meets daily for a Stand Up and Working Session to address questions and roadblocks, which allows each team member to continue on with their work outside of these sessions.

Team Methodology:

  • Agile

Team Makeup:

  • Scrum Master, Business Product Owner, Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, Developers (both internal and external), Quality Assurance, Remediation Analysts, Business Subject Matter Experts (SME). Other resources as needed, ex. Actuarial SME.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain tools in Excel that are used to validate premium, benefits and other data points
  • Develop and run reports in SQL and Excel to determine incident populations
  • Calculate Operational Loss and Financial Impacts of incidents
  • Interpret contract language to determine how premium and benefits should be calculating
  • Research and answer team questions on system and technical calculation questions
  • Execute and improve business controls
  • Assist in documenting and improving processes

Critical Skills and Experience:

  • Strong technical and analytic aptitude
  • Strong Excel skills, including VBA and macros
  • Strong trouble shooting/problem solving skills
  • Intermediate Math skills; building formulas
  • Intermediate SQL skills
  • Self-motivator / driver / organized team player, consistent in follow through
  • Operates with a high degree of urgency and proactively addresses open questions and risks
  • Maintains a solution mindset, facilitating “here’s how we can” versus “here’s why we can’t”
  • Strong soft skills; communicate effectively, especially between IT and business partners
  • Preferred experience:  financial services or life or health insurance products
