Description:

  • The successful candidate will be a servant leader who develops and supports a learning organization model through coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • The successful candidate will be one that can adapt as necessary for unintended consequences of this change initiative and one that understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.
  • Candidate will work in a DevOps team environment and is expected to work on both tactical and strategic assignments.
  • Since the team is very young in its adoption of DevOps principles there is still a fair amount of manual maintenance work.
  • Candidate is expected to handle the manual work while figuring out how to automate it.
  • Engineer will primarily be tasked to develop and maintain Mainframe COBOL online and batch applications with IBM DB2 backend tables
  • Engineer will immediately be engaged with PRJ276122 Provider PICK capability and support the Claims Processing Engine consumer.
  • Engineer will also be tasked on the critical PRJ278986 Fee Schedule expansion initiative. Engineer will also support REST APIs hosted on the mainframe Liberty server.
  • Engineer primary tasks will also include building testing automation scripts on the mainframe UI green screens.
  • Engineer secondary engagement will include opportunity to build Microservices and Kafka streaming Topics in the AWS Cloud.
  • This is a Backfill resource replacement for Megha Jain that was recently promoted to another job role opportunity.

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • The Software Engineer is responsible for maturing the DevOps mindset within the agile teams using techniques such as Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery to provide quality products with seamless integration across Development, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Operations, and Release Management roles.

Team and Team size:

  • Loading Posse - 5 members
  • 1-Scrum Master; 1-Lead Software Engineer; 3-Software Engineer

Top Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of quality products within the Provider Demographic Management domain
  • Responsible for designing and developing automated solutions, tools and infrastructure to guarantee software quality
  • Maintain and Deliver solutions to Mainframe COBOL CICS online and batch applications
  • Maintain and develop REST API services
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and design solutions to resolve business problems

Primary Required Qualifications (not industry specific):

  • 10+ Experience with mainframe COBOL CICS and batch
  • 10+ Experience with IBM DB2/SQL
  • 5+ years of experience working on large scale, multiple team projects
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and automated script testing on the mainframe (LeanFT, etc.)

Secondary Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Java, JavaScript, Openshift, Github

Skills/attributes:

  • Mainframe COBOL CICS and Batch(10+ years) 
  • Testing Automation and/or Java, JavaScript

Nice to have:

  • Github, Openshift, Kafka Streaming, Elasticsearch

Working Time:

  • 9am-5pm day shift

Interview Process:

  •  All interviews will be Video phone
  • 2 rounds - 1st screening, then technical;
  • Technical will include COBOL specific questioning on design solutions to sample business problems; If applicable, will also include basic questions on the Distributed space - JAVA, JavaScript;
