Tell us about your department:
  • The Parcel space provides the platform to optimize carrier selection and spend for parcel packages generated through Client Retail, Ecommerce, or Client For Business. 
Project Description: 
  • The Parcel team works to select the best parcel carrier to meet customer order in-hand dates and service expectations at the lowest cost to serve for the enterprise.
  • The focus on this role will be within technical architecture work with packaged software that we must support carrier selection decisions as well as custom developed applications that help with shipping activities within the store/warehouse
Position Summary/Job Description: 
  • This is a Technical Engineering position on a team in Client Supply Chain Parcel product area.
  • This is a cross-functional DevOps role that plays an integral responsibly for architecting and executing technology solutions that meet our business’ requirements and deliver the associated benefits.
  • Strong technical architecture engineering expertise to facilitate flexible, high volume, and reliable systems is a must-have skill.
  • This role is required to apply knowledge and experience to understand business challenges and opportunities, while driving new and innovative approaches to resolving them using a combination of third-party packages and custom developed solutions.
  • The role is integral to drive the creation of modern, modular technology solutions that are engineered for rapid innovation and great customer experience.
  • This person will interact with and must be able to influence other technical leads, software engineers, managers, directors, and partners throughout the organization.
What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job?
Key Responsibilities:
  • Join team of internal and / or external engineers to design and build technical architecture solutions in support of business and technology solution requirements
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the application development team and internal infrastructure teams (i.e., Database, Platform, Network, etc.)
  • Active participant in sprint planning and architecture design activities
  • Troubleshoot system issues, fix software defects, perform overall testing/debugging (Production and Non-Production)
  • Completes basic documentation needed to support architecture from the design phase to the maintenance phase.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry technology trends/modern software delivery techniques
  • Mentor and lead more junior engineers
  • Developing and maintaining long term business domain knowledge.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in architecting high scale, large volume, and reliable applications 
  • 2+ years of experience partnering with business or product team resources to define requirements for technical architecture
  • 2+ years of experience in hands-on architecture build and delivery
What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in IT/MIS, Computer Science, Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain Parcel industry or related domain knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience in software development and/or CI/CD process automation
  • Experience with cloud-based hosting platforms/architectures
  • Experience with vendor packaged software solutions.
  • Experience with custom developed software solutions.
  • Experience with Digital Shipper parcel services, Blue Yonder Transportation Management System
  • Experience with Microsoft tech stack and Oracle database technologies
  • Release planning and coordination
