Job Description: 
  • At Client, our Core UI teams build solutions for cross-platform (e.g., web, iOS, and Android) development which enables our design and engineering teams to build high-quality and inclusive customer experiences, together.
Project Description:
  • The Core UI teams build Client React component library, along with the ecosystem of frameworks, tools, documentation, and programs that support the design and engineering community at Client in building high-quality and inclusive experiences.
Position Summary/Job Description:
  • The Core UI team at Client is seeking a UI Design Engineer to join our talented and growing group.
  • Client is a top-three digital retailer with multiple consumer channels. 
  • This is a unique opportunity to drive technologies and solutions to build foundations for high-quality and inclusive customer experiences. 
  • You’ll gain invaluable experience solving fascinating challenges and play a critical role in building the next generation of the cross-channel front-end UI component library and tooling here at Client.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Bring your design, UX and front-end engineering skills to build and deliver solutions that support our design and engineering teams, together
  • Build modular, performant, and accessible components and patterns in close collaboration with the design team 
  • Evangelize adoption of new technologies and concepts 
  • Deploy and release code through automated tooling 
  • Understands and makes well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs around scaling, reliability, and maintenance 
  • Create and maintain documentation of technical designs 
  • Define and enforce coding standards and practices
  • Continuously maintain and improve quality across our code stack 
  • Participate in production support 
  • Participate in performance analysis and optimization Skills Overview:
What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job?
  • 5+ years of experience developing composable, extensible, and well-documented UI components using libraries React (preferred) or Angular and using languages TypeScript
  • (preferred) or JavaScript
  • 2+ years of experience implementing or maintaining UI component libraries and design systems
  • (preferred) with tools like Storybook
  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript testing frameworks and libraries such as Jest, Mocha, Jasmine, Testing Library, Enzyme or Webdriver.io 
  • 1+ years of experience with build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, Containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) 
  • 1+ years of experience building and testing accessible experiences with tools like Axe, Wave, Lighthouse and screen readers (Voice Over, Narrator, TalkBack)
What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?
  • Experience with React Native
  • Experience with TypeScript or another typed language 
  • Understanding of module bundling with tools like Webpack 
  • Experience building responsive experiences 
  • Experience with design systems 
Understanding of how to build accessible customer experiences Will there be a Hacker Rank test Required for this REQ?
