Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • The primary application this person will work on is our Data Governance app which controls access to data returned via an API Call. This is request collection application written in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS, MySQL.
  • There are many incoming requests to enhance this application for other APIs that access different data and therefore need additional screens written to collect and manage these new data sources.

Ideal Background:

  • An understanding of PII, PHI, PCI is very beneficial since that is the type of data we are working with and this person would need to understand the security related to managing this type of data.

Experience:

  • Having experience with Kubernetes and Jenkins deployment procedures since these are the tools host this application in production.

Top Requirements:

  • Development Skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, NodeJS are a must for this project, the candidate should have 4 years of experience in this area, having an understanding of MySQL is good enough since there is no DBA work required.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills, must be able to work well with teams and be able to clearly present solutions and talk to leadership about the application and technical directions it is going in.
  • This position requires the candidate to work closely with our business partners.
  • Software Development Lifecycle understanding will be key to this application as that is the methodology that is used by our teams. Should have at least 3 years of understanding.

  • 2 Business Owners
  • 1 Scrum Master
  • 1 Solution Architect
  • 1 Application Architect
  • 1 Systems Analyst
  • 2 Developers currently assigned to the project
  • 2 Dev SMEs to assist and mentor.

Top Responsibilities:

  • In this position, you will be responsible for developing and supporting business solutions to one or more of the strategic programs.
  • Primary contributor in designing, coding, testing and supporting applications which are aligned to the IT strategy, leveraging enterprise components and capabilities, advancing the state of our IT assets.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement and maintain applications within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes
  • Communicate effectively with other engineers and SA
  • Establish, refine and integrate development and test environment tools and software as needed
  • Identify production and non-production application issues
  • Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize applications
  • Provide technical support and consultation for an application and infrastructure questions
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced developers
  • Developing pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends
  • Contribute to development team and help to achieve key business objectives
  • Collaborate with the team on application architecture design and decision-making
  • Design and implement application enhancements in collaboration with different teams
  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
  • Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle experience
  • 2+ years of MongoDB or MySQL development experience with designing data collections
  • 2+ years of development experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, NodeJS
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills, must be able to work well with teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience working in Agile Methodology and/or CICD, ATDD
  • Experience with Source Control systems (example: GIT)
  • Experience working with Automated Testing tools (Selenium, Cucumber etc.)
  • Experience working in a virtual team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with OSFI (OSO, OSE, Kubernetes) 
  • Experience working with Docker Images

Interview Process:

  • a. How many rounds? Usually 2, first one to vet them out technically and the second to make sure they will be a fit on the team. Sometimes we’ll do a 3rd if the first tech interview didn’t go so well but we feel there may be value in the candidate. We do understand that sometimes pressure causes people to mis-understand questions and give incorrect answers.
  • b. Video vs. phone? Phone is ok for the technical, but I prefer video for the final interview.
  • c. How technical will the interviews be? Very, since our goal is to make sure this candidate has the experience need to be a value add, we do not have time to teach this person, they need to hit the ground running.
