  • Performance Management Software Engineer

  • You will be a lead contributor in a performance management engineering team for this platform.
  • The ideal candidate has multiple years of enterprise development experience with a background of analyzing application performance and bottlenecks in API and database transactions.
  • Successful candidates have a proven ability to network and lead without direct authority.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and evaluate impact to future system performance
  • Use tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk as well as Gatling test suites to monitor resource utilization, identify bottlenecks and make architectural or coding suggestions to developers to optimize performance
  • Make resource tuning, capacity and intelligent monitoring recommendations based on system data, business input & implications
  • Design and implement new ways of testing the performance of new services and technologies, including the mining of production data to test configurable scenarios in real-time performance simulations.
  • Requires a performance testing mindset as well as software engineering skills.
  • Gather and compare application performance data against service level criteria to assess system performance
  • Forecast future application/system capacity needs by leveraging business plans and historical trends and advanced reporting
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional IT experience (a combination of software development and performance optimization and automated testing).
  • Interest in understanding best practices in performance optimization
  • Practical experience with one or more programming languages - Java, Groovy, Scala, Python
  • Familiar with modern software tools, technology, and practices such as GitHub, Jenkins, Intellij, Maven
  • Familiar with cloud native applications and deployments into a Kubernetes or Openshift environment
  • Experience with one or more modern monitoring and log forwarding tools - Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace
  • Familiarity with Gatling, LoadRunner or similar scalable API testing frameworks
  • Experience with Agile & CI/CD methodologies and creation of automated performance tests
  • Experience analyzing SQL queries for performance bottlenecks and making recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, and an established pattern of continuous learning

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • Claims processing, a Java cloud microservice application. This position is with the performance engineering group, which writes software that stress tests the micro services.

Ideal Background:

  • Interested in writing stress testing software and analyzing performance of an application service and making recommendations for how to make it faster.
  • Training will be available from other group members


  • Dynatrace or Datadog or Splunk experience

Top Requirements:

  • Please list your expectations regarding years of experience for each requirement
  • Java or Groovy or Scala programming language is very helpful, but other languages may be applicable.
  • Performance engineering mindset, understanding response time and throughput concepts

Team and Team size:

  • 4 USA, 6 India. India functional manager, USA developers dual report to India manager and USA director.
