The Design Technologist will work with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and product managers to improve and maintain our public websites and secure client applications. The Design Technologist will also collaborate with core UI team members to develop repeatable design patterns, establish development standards, and help maintain our component library.

  • Understand business objectives, as well as customer needs, in order to articulate how design can address them 
  • Work closely with cross-functional feature teams to deliver features in support of business objectives 
  • Extend and improve client's UI design language, development standards and component libraries 
  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to implement UI components within platform constraints 
  • Actively participate in design critiques, code reviews and team retrospectives 
  • Help improve team culture 
  • Be curious, engaged, approachable and self-reliant 
  • Stay current with a rapidly changing industry; share knowledge with others

  • 3-5 Years
  • Expert level understanding of HTML/CSS 
  • Experience working in a product and/or agile environments 
  • Experience working with front end developers and designers to develop production ready UI solutions 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Works substantially with little supervision or oversight
  • Skill Level: Intermediate 
  • Analyze and translate business requirements and user needs into production ready UI

Software & Technology:
  • HTML, CSS, VS Code (or equivalent), git (or equivalent)
  • Level 1 plus: Provides clear and concise communication with project team and mid-level management 
  • Participate in code reviews 
  • Collaborate with front end engineers and product designers to implement production ready HTML/CSS

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver features 
  • Create UI components that improve our software 
  • Maintain & extend client's design component library 
  • Understand business requirements and objectives and help explain/clarify them for others
  • 2 / 4-year college degree or equivalent professional experience
Premium Skills:
  • Expert level understanding of graphic design fundamentals (typography, color theory, layout, etc.)
  •  Advanced understanding of JavaScript
Supplemental List:
  • A portfolio of code samples or work that clearly communicates successful customer/user-focused website and application solutions
