Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • ETL (Extract, transform, load) incoming files from providers and other external partners such as public health department,
  • Health information data repository. Analyze data and deliver data to internal partners in ways that they will be able to absorb using data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Predictive analytics for the Nebraska Community and State Health Plan.

Ideal Background:

  • Healthcare and/or insurance background, understanding of healthcare data including claims, member and provider information.
  • The ideal candidate would have experience working for a health insurance or managed care company, or a health system EMR background.
  • This person should be comfortable presenting data offering suggestions and guidance to leadership and external business partners and customers.

Team and Team size:

  • Team currently has 2 members – one Senior reporting analyst, and one senior business analyst. There are 2 open positions on the team, including this one.
  • The other is a temp to hire position for Sr. Reporting Analyst.
  • The current team members do not possess the Oracle DB or SQL skills we are looking for on the team.
  • This position would add additional support and be able to streamline and document reporting process and serve as a mentor to help the existing person develop skills.
  • The Sr. Business Analyst on the team works with internal process, correcting response file errors received from the state, ad hoc reporting requests.

Top Responsibilities:

  • ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) data from external sources, such as providers, state vaccine database, and public health department.
  • Maintain Tableau Server Space and Oracle Schema for the Nebraska Health Plan, conduct advanced detailed data pulls as requested, conduct predictive analytics for cost of care, member gross margin, etc.
  • Support health plan initiatives including affordability, rework reduction, and quality.

Skills/attributes:

  • 3-4 years of advanced Oracle DB, Tableau, Talend or similar tool. Expert level skills in excel and SharePoint. Communication and presentation skills

Nice to have:

  • Healthcare and insurance experience, college degree, government programs including Medicare and Medicaid

Working Time:

  •  daytime hours

Interview Process:

  • a. How many rounds? A minimum of 2
  • b. Video vs. phone? In person or via Teams with video
  • c. How technical will the interviews be? Candidate should be able to give detailed explanation to demonstrate Database and SQL skills. The interviewers will be senior level leadership for the 2nd round. There will be a skills assessment as a part of the interview process.
