  • This position is for a Senior Data Engineer (Cloud). The candidate will be responsible for helping us build and maintain data pipelines in a very large Azure Cloud subscription with a multi-million dollar yearly spend.
  • The current technology stack includes Azure Cloud, Databricks, Apache Spark/Scala, Data Factory, Synapse.

The successful candidate must be able to contribute in the following areas:

  • Write code in Apache Spark/Scala
  • Work on existing Databricks Delta Lake tables or create new ones with the ability to optimize for performance.
  • Deploy to NONPROD and PROD, both on-premise and in Cloud
  • Security and Networking best practices
  • Recent trends in Cloud.

Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • Cloud, On-Premise Database Administration

Team and Team size:

  • Team Badgers, Size: 10 (6 in US, 4 in India)

Must have skills/tools

  • Resourcefulness and the ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail with a sense of urgency when required
  • Possess emotional intelligence and be a team player
  • Data Engineering Experience: 5 years
  • Apache Spark (Scala Strongly Preferred, Python Acceptable. Must be strong in at least one and willing to learn the other if required ): 2 years
  • Cloud platform experience (Other cloud platforms okay but Azure preferable): 2 years
  • Big Data Experience with datasets in the hundreds of Terabytes or more.

Nice to have:

  • Databricks
  • Kafka, Streaming Technologies
  • Kubernetes, Docker, Containers

Working Time:

  • This is a data engineering position, so after hours and weekend support will be needed on a rotational basis.
  • Prefer CST, EST time zone located candidates due to the necessary overlap with India time.
  • If a candidate is in PST, that can be an option if they are willing to adjust to start earlier (work CST or EST hours).

Interview Process:

  • Round 1: Video call with hiring manager/director to discuss role, candidate goals, and fit to position.
  • Round 2: Video call with a few of our engineers. Discussion of resume with technical questions
