MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Proof magazine pages to ensure accuracy and correct placement of all framework content

and graphic elements

  • Perform data fact checking, proofing and light-to-medium editing of advertising content for accuracy, grammar, spelling and consistency with brand guidelines and brand voice
  • Review advertising design, ensuring continuity between copy and design as it pertains to

style guidelines

  • Maintain ownership of assigned projects to ensure work meets timelines and to provide final approvals of completed projects
  • Coordinate with Publishing Editor and a cross-functional team to gather information as it pertains to the proofing and editing process of assigned projects

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree with an emphasis in English, journalism or communications preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a proofreader, copy editor or similar role in marketing, large corporate, agency or magazine production environment
  • 5+ years in a PM role coordinating design and development process of print projects

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong proofreading, light-to-medium editing and quality control skills
  • Thorough understanding of standard proofreading marks and AP Style
  • Passion for proofing and editing, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate workload in a hybrid environment in conjunction with the Publishing Editor
  • Ability to coordinate workflow within an online project management tool and perform online editing in various software
  • Proficient understanding of the creative design and print production processes as well as graphic terms associated with each
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a high volume of overlapping projects and tight deadlines
