Job Description: Tell us about your department:
  • The Discover Team is part of the newly-formed Discover/Enjoy department. 
  • This department includes 7 teams, and is responsible primarily for experiences on the website that lead customers into the shopping funnel, as well as features that customers use after making a purchase with us.
Project Description:
  • The Discover Team owns managed content across the experience. 
  • We are primarily a frontend engineering team working in an Agile-based model. 
  • Some of our core experiences include the Global Home Page, the Top Deals / Weekly Ad experience, Deal of the Day, Category/Department pages, and the Black Friday experience.
Position Summary/Job Description:
  • Research, analyze, validate, and document data integrations for managed content widgets and to identify new technology solutions and functional enhancements.
  • Articulate business and system requirements for multiple audiences and stakeholders within our Digital & Technology organization.
  • Drive stakeholder requirements gathering and translate requirements into various deliverables such as system and functional specifications, use cases, UML sequence diagrams, and data flow diagrams in support of Agile story execution.
  • Partner with Product Managers, providing insight, advice and support during Feature Discovery activities.
  • Ensure consistent product vision execution through an iterative process of discovery, analysis, design, development and testing, based on the Agile development model.
  • Proactive assessment of feature ideas for dependencies and possible impediments, sharing assessments with Product Managers.
  • Facilitate communication between Product and Engineering about what’s possible.
  • Create Agile JIRA stories to define needed engineering work.
  • Define detailed Acceptance Criteria that clearly describes when story work is complete.
  • Remotely participate in all Agile rituals including (but not limited to) Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, Design Sessions, Retros, etc.
  • Collaborate with squad members and external teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing support for software engineers, architects, quality engineers, dependency teams, and leadership throughout the software delivery process.
  • Skilled at translating technical concepts into non-technical communications.
  • Thrives in a very fast paced environment.
  • Can think “out of the box” for ways to accomplish tasks.
  • Makes decisions based on data and facts, not feelings or impressions; Completing thorough analysis before reaching a conclusion.
  • Quick learner who has a natural curiosity about how things work.
  • Enjoys building relationships with their “customers” and uses those relationships to facilitate prioritization negotiations and obtain agreement.
Skills Overview:
What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job?
  • Experience working with and building JSON data contracts.
  • Experience in an Agile Development environment.
  • Good understanding of latest mobile and web architecture including cloud computing, edge caching, microservices, RESTful APIs, etc.
  • Ability to work with remote teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 5+ Years of experience
What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?
  • Client experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with CMS tools (WordPress, Adobe Digital Asset Manager, etc).
  • Strong technical skills – experience as a software engineer/developer is a bonus.
