Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • This is a contract to hire position for a senior PEGA software engineer. The role will support Maestro application that is running PEGA instances for M&R and C&S call centers for UnitedHealth Group

Team and Team size:

  • This role will span over multiple teams (5 scrum teams), ensuring PEGA sound development and overseeing application performance and stability
  • Each scrum team is composed of 8 to 10 members. PO, SM, SA, 2 QAs, 3 Dev’s and 1 DevOps lead

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Configures Pega solution including integrations between systems and development of automated activities
  • Have a working knowledge of PRPC architecture including the following: (J2EE architecture, PRPC Multi-node architecture, PRPC Caching, Session Management, Ajax in PRPC, Tracer, DB trace)
  • Assists in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution
  • Understanding of container technologies: OpenShift, Docker, etc.
  • Has a good understanding / hands on experience with Admin Studio and PDC to troubleshoot the system
  • Drives and promotes OOTB solutioning rather than custom code
  • Drives reusable architecture designs and framework layering
  • Drive performance, and maintainability improvements (Compliance Scorecard, PDC)
  • Code Reviews/ Design Reviews - Adherence to best practice
  • Work with delivery teams to build product capabilities and low-code applications that are performant, scalable, and resilient
  • POC/foundational work (hands on development) and analysis on new features and requirements to determine feasibility and vetting of solution options
  • Participates in solution sessions based on requirements and estimation requests
  • Brings Best Practices for performance tuning of Pega systems to the M&R Maestro delivery teams
  • Oversee PEGA performance testing, providing target metrics and reviewing results
  • Provides input on evaluation, selection, implementation and maintenance of performance testing and monitoring tools, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems
  • Work closely with Maestro technical leadership team to communicate finding, risks and remediation of proposed performance issues and best practices.
  • Review new PEGA technology releases, and stay up to date on features that could improve DevOps teams delivery

Required Qualifications:

  • Under graduate degree
  • 7+ years experience of hands on development experience with PEGA versions 7.x to 8.x
  • The individual holds Pega certifications as either a Senior System Architect (CSSA) or Lead System Architect (CLSA) and has demonstrable expertise in application stability monitoring and tuning Pega and/or other BPMS products, preferably, in a cloud environment
  • Web services/Integration experience
  • Experience leveraging PEGA provided Performance tools such as:
    • Performance Analyzer (PAL) Database Trace Tracer Performance Profiler Log viewer PEGA Autonomic Event Services (AES) or Predictive Diagnostic Cloud (PDC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tool experience such as Splunk, Dynatrace/or DTSaaS
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership of technical solutions
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Skills with experience in presenting complex and critical issues to senior management

Working Time:

  •  8 to 5 PM CT
