  1. Integrated Business Planning (IBP) is a new business leadership standard being applied across company's  that bridges the commercial strategy to full execution across the demand-supply-operations-finance value chain. It is meant to operationalize business strategy through efficient and strategic decision making and use of resources. This particular role has direct work within the Respiratory Interventions business (RI), a nearly $1 billion business unit of the Medical Surgical business unit of company. The RI business looks after all areas of critical respiratory care that range from a non-invasive ventilation approach to laryngoscopy that leads to intubation (either with endotracheal tubes or tracheostomy tubes) to a full provision of respiratory assistance provide by ventilators (both basic and acute care). The RI business was the unit of company's  that experienced the greatest growth during the Pandemic due the very nature of its work.

  2. Our Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Team is a recently created lean organization consisting of a overall Lead for the business and a Finance Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Lead. Every one of company's  20 operating units has these two positions staffed, and the members are Director/Sr. Manager level experienced professionals with a long history of managing business challenges at all levels. The team has been together for 4 months, though the Lead has been working through IBP since November 2020. There is an oversight of the process at the Medical Surgical level, where the Leads exchange ideas and best practices with professionals from other company's  businesses. Ultimate oversight and accountability for the success of the IBP effort lies with each company's  business and reports up to the Operating Unit President and Senior Staff. As a small team we have comprehensive global oversight of the entire RI business, responsible helping to enable strong execution of our strategy and for breaking down barriers to efficient execution. Included in this is product lifecycle management, or PLM, which is being matured across company's  as a means of assigning resources and efforts to only the right solutions for customers worldwide and for managing products to obsolescence where necessary and appropriate.

  3. For the first time in the business's 45-year history, the RI Team undertook a product sku (i.e. stock-keeping units, or products) rationalization initiative that as of 2021 has yielded a 61% reduction in total skus from the original baseline. This has delivered significant operational and customer efficiencies. However, several global regulatory and quality standards (EU-MDR, ISO 3rd Edition, etc) are requiring further work to complete the obsolescence of a large number of products across our RI portfolio. Moreover, this work requires the next level of portfolio lifecycle management, which is to embed in our culture a sensibility that all new products require an evaluation of impact on the portfolio to maintain efficiency. This role helps to execute the actions that facilitate this future-state vision for the global business.


  1.   Ensure alignment of product phase-out objectives to Product Obsolescence Plans, including ensuring that all products for phase-out have a POP with a designated leader and core team.
  2.  Track overall metrics/sku rationalization progress across each POP.
  3.  Interact effectively with Core Team members on projects and action, as well as with cross-functional stakeholders up to and including IBP Leadership (IBP Lead and FP&A Lead).
  4.  Report back to IBP leadership progress against critical PLM objectives from each project.
  5.  Partner with IBP Team to establish well-developed phase in/phase out process that accounts for each new product launch meant to update the portfolio.


  1. Leadership experience with the ability to influence other leaders at various organizational levels (though people leadership experience is not strictly necessary)
  2. Organizational capabilities to drive work proactively
  3. Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  4. Ability to present high-level information to multiple audiences, including engineers, executives and marketing personnel
  5. Self motivated with a proven track record in executing both short and long-term plans across global regions
  6. Ability to work effectively in a matrix management structure and partner seamlessly within the organization
  7. Significant ability to work into extreme details but to relate them back to strategic PLM milestones
  8. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships cross functionally
  9. High emotional intelligence in all situations
