Projects the candidate will be working on:

  • This is a multi-year project that consist of integrating over 20+ Acquired Entities from over to.
  • The first phase has already started that will include up to 7 Acquired Entities to begin planning and network integration.
  • This require multiple resources from various teams to work with the Business Partners to support the planning and execution of the various Network Integration phases including the migration of their Data Centers and Applications.

Ideal Background:

  • The candidate we are looking for must have over 3 years’ experience in IT Security working in large enterprise environments.
  • This individual will need to be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple individuals and teams.
  • They will need to be able to lead discussions when necessary in meetings or sessions to plan and resolve issues as required.
  • Technical skills include ability to work (configure, administer, troubleshoot, etc.) on next generation firewalls, switches, routers, and proxy devices.
  • Most importantly, they will need to be flexible and work after hours and during weekends as required by the project at times.

Experience:

  • Ability to be agile and flex based on changes in the requirements or schedule while juggling and prioritizing other tasks or projects as assigned
  • Be able to work independently and autonomously at times with minimal direction and provide updates as necessary to management.
  • In depth experience including the ability to script or automate tasks on Palo Alto firewalls

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on-call and non-standard hours when necessary
  • Serves as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for approaches, procedures, and implementation of Cybersecurity systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot in highly complex, technical situations within a matrixed organization
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Serves in a leadership capacity, formulating and implementing procedures and systems
  • Ability to document and communicate on an expert level
  • Have or be in process of obtaining advanced certifications pertinent to area of expertise
  • Ability to obtain and keep required (government and other) security clearances
  • Collaborate in the development of training content for issues related to IT Cybersecurity
  • Develops and oversees the development of innovative approaches and solutions to complex problems and issues
  • Mentors and coaches cybersecurity individuals to provide guidance and expertise, promoting continued integration of technological advances to further enhance security
  • Oversees the monitoring and responses to security incidents, offering expertise to ensure prompt and effective resolution
  • Collaborates with director, managers, project managers, architects and other technical personnel to ensure mitigation of risks to the company

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven work experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer
  • 2+ years of experience with next gen/firewall (ex. Palo Alto)
  • 3+ years of experience with WAN/LAN routing, switching, proxy and firewall environments
  • 3+ years or experience in IT Security for large enterprise environments
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot in highly complex, technical situations within a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP, CompTIA Security +, or related certification

Top Requirements:

  • 2+ yrs Palo Alto firewall experience including administration, configuring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
  • 2 – 3+ yrs Strong verbal and written communication to articulate non/technical information to business customers and management
  • 3 – 3+ yrs Attention to detail and strong planning and problem solving skills

Team and Team size:

  • The initial team the individual we report to and work with consists of all security firewall engineers and architects.
  • They will however, be assigned to projects which will be made up of multiple teams that can range anywhere from 10 – 20+ people consisting of PMs, engineers, analyst and architects from various disciplines like network, voice, security, applications, etc.., customers from Business Partners and different levels of leadership from managers, directors, and on.

Interview Process:

  • a. How many rounds? 2-3 depending on candidates
  • b. Video vs. phone? Phone is sufficient
  • c. How technical will the interviews be? Very technical to understand level of competency and experience
