Project Description:

  • The Enhance team's vision is to create and support product detail pages that will improve our customer’s shopping experience by anticipating their needs at the different stages either in their shopping journey or during product ownership. 

Why our team exists?

  • As stewards of the product detail page, we provide customers with the information that builds trust and confidence in their shopping journey decisions. 

What do we do?

  • We listen and research to identify and solve customer friction points
  • We collaborate and align strategies across partner teams. 
  • We aggregate, curate and optimize the PDP customer experience.
  • This team is also responsible for the new / existing UI components in the bestbuy.com, with Product Detail Page (PDP) being the primary focus, however the components that are built for PDP will also be designed to work for other use cases were applicable. (Listing Pages<PLP>, Home Page, etc.,). 
  • Enhance team is split into 2 squads, whereas each scrum team works on a 2-week sprint cadence, focusing on the team’s vision, values & strategy.

Position Summary/Job Description:

  • The main function of the Business System Analyst is to analyze, gather and articulate / translate business requirements to the engineering team to build high scalable front-end components and experiences for the Client.com website.
  • You will be part of a team that delivers high quality digital experience for our customers.

Key position responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the gathering, analyzing, and articulation of business and system requirements within our digital organization.
  • Requirements Elicitation (JAD sessions, document analysis, interface analysis, interviews, etc.}
  • Proactive assessment of feature ideas for dependencies and possible impediments, sharing assessments with Product Managers.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, QA and Engineering teams to define the detailed requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between remote product and both remote and local Engineering about what's possible.
  • Create Agile JIRA stories to define needed engineering work.
  • Use established templates to document detailed requirements in the Client  Confluence Wiki environment.
  • Define detailed Acceptance Criteria that describes when story work is complete.
  • Participate in all Agile rituals including (but not limited to) Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, Design Sessions, Tech Reviews, Retros, etc.
  • Collaborate with team members and external teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with QA and guide on test plan and data setup for the new features.
  • Along with Tech Leads and Engineering Managers, provide ongoing support for team engineers, dependency teams, QA engineers, and leadership throughout the feature delivery process.

  • Characteristics / Abilities
  • Someone with Client Digital experience is strongly preferred.
  • Communication, being Proactive and Relationship builder Someone with more Technical BA experience than Business BA experience.
  • Someone who has worked with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Someone with really strong data mapping and transformation skills is a must.
  • Someone who will be adaptable to the BSA processes and documentation standards we already have in place.
  • Someone with ruthless attention to detail.
  • Someone who has very high standards for the quality of their work, and is not too “casual” in their approach to work, their communications, etc.
  • Someone who is extremely organized and never lets anything slip through the cracks.
  • Someone who can translate technical concepts into non-technical communications and vice versa.
  • Someone who has done some development in their past would be a plus.
  • Someone who thrives in a very fast paced environment and that loves adapting to change.
  • Someone who can think “out of the box” for ways to accomplish tasks.
  • Someone who is a really good listener and problem solver.
  • Someone who makes decisions based on facts, not feelings or impressions.
  • Someone who is level-headed, who completes thorough analysis before reaching a conclusion.
  • Someone who is a quick learner and who has a natural curiosity about how things work.
  • Someone who enjoys building relationships with their “customers” and uses those relationships to facilitate gathering requirements and obtaining consensus.
  • Someone who will not “sit-and-spin” all by themselves but will reach out for help.
  • Someone with gumption!

What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job?

  • 7+ years of experience in a BSA or Technical BA role.
  • Excellent detailed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have experience working with remote teams.
  • Must have worked in at least one Agile Development Environment.
  • Strong technical skills – must have worked as a Developer, QA Engineer, Business Systems Analyst or Technical Business Analyst previously.
  • Must have demonstrable experience analyzing, documenting, and iterating on new or existing technology systems.
  • Good understanding of latest web architecture 
  • Experience building JSON data contracts.

What are the technologies and the depth of the technologies that a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role?

  • Mastery of data types and data transformation concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to write JSON contracts.
  • Understanding of programming concepts.

What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for?

  • #1 preference is for someone with previous BBY D&T experience.
  • Programming/development experience. 
  • So they understand how devs think.
  • So they can imagine how code can be written to accomplish a certain function.
