Team Description: 

  • The Locker Availability and Reservations engineering team is part of the wider multi-channel ordering area.   
  • The team creates custom APIs that allow Client to manage lockers located at store locations.  
  • The team’s software provides the ability to find available lockers and reserve them, integrating with client applications and 3rd party locker providers.  
  • Use cases include after-hours customer order pickup, customer repair pickup, and hand-off to carriers for delivery.  

 Project Description: 

  • We are a small team of engineers using agile was of working.  
  • Our applications are built using modern deployment pipelines with rich automated developer tests.  
  • Applications run on the JVM and are backed by Kafka and Cockroach DB.  
  • Our team values collaboration, continuous improvement, speed to market, automated testing, and clean code.  

 Position Summary/Job Description: 

  • This position is for an engineer on our small team.  
  • Expect to be coding or reviewing code about 80% of the time.  
  • The rest of the time will be spent planning, designing solutions, documenting technical architecture, and collaborating with team members. 

 Required Skills 

  • 7+ years of experience in software
  • Expert with Java and the JVM
  • Expert with Spring framework
  • Expert in a range of automated testing techniques
  • Expert developing applications backed by a relational database 
  • Experience programing using Groovy language and Spock framework
  • Experience performance tuning Java applications

 Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with Cockroach DB deployed in public cloud 
  • Knowledge of Kafka, even if no direct experience
  • Retail or Supply Chain experience
