Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with our marketing department to develop applications that can be tested easily and will perform well under a variety of conditions
  • Champion adherence to best practice development methodologies
  • Facilitate automated testing so all teams can innovate at a rapid pace
  • Mentor and build skills across the team by setting effective standards, performing code reviews, and by knowledge-sharing with other engineers
  • Make sure that new features don’t interfere or cause any negative impact in ongoing business processes, and handle any situation that might compromise our system stability
  • Contribute to decisions on how our tech-driven, lean organization is going to evolve
  • Help decide which tech stack will be used to implement any given feature
  • Proactively look for new technologies or solutions that guarantee our stack stays competitive and up-to-date
  • Help establish standards for the team in areas of technical excellence

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team, with direct communication with the rest of directors of the organization (who each have very different backgrounds such as sales, digital marketing, call center management, etc.)
  • Capacity to understand business requirements stated at a very high level, and break them in smaller tasks that might be more suitable to be implemented and deployed successfully
  • Ability to combine a strongly methodological way of approaching problems, with certain level of flexibility to react to changes in an agile manner
  • Ability to suggest improvements in business processes or completely different ways of achieving business goals
  • Strong focus on the quality of the work performed and on avoiding inefficiencies in our work.
  • Understanding of how to keep tech debt to reasonable levels
  • Inclined to help others on the team, and willing to be a partner others can rely on to resolve tech-related issues
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in CS or equivalent is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience developing complex enterprise applications.
  • Experience with SaaS application design and implementation

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong Java application development
  • Knowledge of Spring, JPA, and Hibernate
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge of JavaScript
  • Ability to manage source code with Git
  • Basic Linux skills

 

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Postgres, and ability to review and optimize SQL queries
  • Familiarity with ExtJS
  • Familiarity with Twilio and its Programming Voice API
  • Knowledge of Ruby or Python
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Lambda)
